It's High Time for Spring to Arrive

It's High Time for Spring to Arrive!
OR
Isn't February Over Yet?

But first, we haven't had an English Class Pop Quiz in forever! Since pop quizzes are generally given after a lesson has been taught, this one will be about the difference between lie and lay. You remember that lesson, don't you? Go ahead and review if you like. Then come back here and take the quiz.
Fill in the blanks with the correct past tense verbs
(1) I like to lie on the couch, but yesterday the dog got there first, so I _____ on the floor.
(2) My husband never lays his towel on the bathroom floor, so I was surprised when he _____ it there yesterday.
The answers are at the end of the post.

It's spring fever.  That is what the name of it is.  And when you've got it, you want - oh, you don't quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!  ~Mark Twain

Why isn't spring here yet? And why isn't February over? You know why February only has 28 days? Because if it were any longer we'd all shoot ourselves, that's why! And since this is leap year, it's a distinct possibility! It is the grayest, gloomiest month of the year, and I have never liked it. So, to console myself as I wait for this hideous sack of January's droppings to get over with, I've gone in search of ways to bring spring into my home early. And where would one go in search of anything under the sun? Why Pinterest, of course!

So, without further ado, here are the 10 coolest springy things I found on Pinterest:

1. A spring flower arrangement with Peeps!

2. Sunshine, flowers, and reading outside.

3. Baby lamb.

4. Okay, technically this has nothing to do with spring, but it makes me happy anyway!

 5. Cute clothes!!  I can't wait to get out of long sleeves and into lots of color!

6. The hummingbirds come back!

7. Daffodils.

8. Ice Cream Bars.

9. Spring romance.

10. A Picnic!!

There now! Don't we all feel better? Spring is just around the corner, the gloom is lifting, and I'm ready to have a barbecue!

So let's look at that pop quiz, shall we? Here are the answers.
(1) I like to lie on the couch, but yesterday the dog got there first, so I lay on the floor. (Remember that in addition to being a present tense verb, lay is also the past tense of to lie.)
(2) My husband never lays his towel on the bathroom floor, so I was surprised when he laid it there yesterday. (To lay is the verb that has to have a direct object [his towel], and the past tense is laid.)

So check in down there in the comments section. What do you look forward to with the coming of spring? How do you manage to get through February with your wrists unslit? How much of that chocolatey dessert do you plan to eat (which may answer the previous question)?  And how did you do on the pop quiz? Did you go back and check the lesson first, or just wing it?
